First off the bat, we've seen these from old dubya dubya two movies right? They yell "banzai" and charge as fast as they can, okay that's all fine and dandy but that's not how they took ground nor is it how they were planned. The original purpose of the banzai charge was to number one off the bat, cause psychological disorders among enemy troops as we all know and fear being cut by a sword, knife, or bayonet. Number two is to be a diversion from the real front line, and that's behind your rear lines. A major problem with the Western way of charges is to just run in a zigzag at MOST and hope not to get hit and take ground, the banzai charge however is where you need to actually make an attempt to avoid bullets, duck behind cover or concealment, lay suppressive fire and lob a couple grenades to thwart rookies and stupid people mostly and then charge again, then repeat. This is the truth behind the banzai charge as it really was. Also, that wasn't the only kind of banzai charge that existed, the other was the REAL banzai charge where a small stealthy unit supported by mortars would methodically lob grenades into spots that would make it look like another lucky or well placed arty shell.
Idea is pretty effective when it comes to patrols, you use two or three very small groups and have your point men crawl. Yes you heard me, they crawl along the ground at slow speeds through bushes and shrubs in order to not be seen. When you spot a unit you get the hell out of dodge while keeping low and quiet the same way to came in. Do not be afraid when you're shot at, just keep low and get behind cover and return fire, that's when the rest of the team comes and saves the day and the other one or two squads you sent out to shadow that patrol show up from other angles surprising the hell out of the opponent with more than effective firepower. Basically from the OpFors point of view it starts out sounding like one or two guns going off at a time to a couple dozen. ^.^ When things stop going your way and you start to take casualties, fall back and disappear using stealth. Mind you, the main patrol (AKA not the point men but the infantry) need to remember to be using stealth themselves and keep usually in a crouch position while slow moving and sometimes darting from one piece of cover to the next and even crawling too.
Yes, I said "blowing crap up" and you know you're interested (Muahahaha). This is the funnest part that happens to be here, but also one of the riskiest, it's infiltration basically speaking. The idea is to sneak behind enemy lines (remember what I said about the banzai charges?) and then place a satchel or two in key positions while making them look like arty fire coming from a ways away that just happen to be "lucky shots". I'm sure those of you who have been to the fair and have done the horse shoe toss know how hard it is to accurately hit a small target like that from far away. Usually what you do is take a three or four man team (quietly) behind enemy lines and slip into an enemy base and wreak havoc as you please basically while remembering to organize an artillery or surgical strike at the same time you decide to set off the charges. As you can guess this plan is very powerful. You can see that it wouldn't be too hard to mistake the bombings for a simple artillery strike.
